Product: GreenWorks Pro 80V MO80L410 21-Inch Self-Propelled Cordless Lawn Mower

Manufacturers: Globe Tools Group

Best Price:  Amazon,

Warranty: 4 years on the mower and 2 years on the battery after the date of purchase but only upon registration of product  at GreenWorks

Design & Specs – Great design but not without flaws

Design Pros – What I like about the design

➳ Sturdy Material

This GreenWorks mower has a steel deck but the clips for adjusting the mower handle height and the attachment for the blade are made from plastic. The deck, clippings, and the blade attachment materials have all been used on other GreenWorks models and have been lasting the test of time so I wouldn’t worry too much about the plastic material.

➳ Simple Start and stop function

Starting your mower will be a breeze if you are coming from a gas mower. Now there is no cranking. All you need to do is push a button and pull the bail switch towards the handle and you are ready to mow.

How to start and stop your GreenWorks Self propelled mower – Simple push of a button.

  • Step 1 – Ensure that battery is charged and loaded in the mower
  • Step 2 – Press and hold down on the green safety lock-out button close to the back handle of the mower.
  • Step 3 – Still holding the button, pull back the bail switch towards the back handle of the mower.
  • Step 4 – After the mower starts, release the safety lock-out button and the mower is ready to start mowing.
  • Step 5 – To stop mowing, release the bail and the mower will immediately stop.

Adequate Height Adjustment positions

There are 5 different cutting heights. 1st setting is 1 1/4″ and the 5th setting is 3 5/8″. This is considered adequate height options as it is recommended that the average lawn should be between 2 inches and 3 1/2 inches (5 cm to 8.3 cm) during summer and between 1 1/2 inches to 2″ (3.8 to 5 cm) during cooler months.

➳ One handle height adjustment for all four wheels

A single lever is used to adjust all four wheels. I would hate needing to adjust each wheel individually.

➳ 3-in-1 Cutting options

  1. Bagging
  2. Mulching
  3. Sideways Discharge

➳ Smart cut technology

The mower revs up when it senses high, thick grass, and then down when going through shorter thinner grass. This conserves your battery energy when mowing low grass but will eat away your battery in thick, tall grass.

Lasting Brushless Motor

The GreenWorks self-propelled mower features brushless motor technology. You must always look for a mower with a Brushless motor’s life expectancy by decreasing wear and tear. It also helps to reduce battery energy consumption and wastage by decreasing the amount of heat produced by the motor. So you get a longer-lasting motor and more run time.

➳ Durable Lithium-ion Batteries

Li-ion batteries have a predicted lifespan of up to 10 years. This GreenWorks 80V self-propelled mower comes with an 80V 4Ah li-ion battery (or the battery might be sold separately). It takes 1 hr to charge and can last up to 45 minutes – 1hr depending on your grass type.

The battery comes with a rapid charger but the battery can also be charged using other charger models from GreenWorks. These include GBA80200, GBA80400 and GCH8040.

➳ Saves space during Storage

This mower can be stored in two positions: horizontally with the handles folded over the mower or vertically leaning on the handle-bar. Leaning your mower against a wall in a vertical position saves tonnes of space. With a gas mower, you would have to worry about gas and oil leaking out but remember you don’t have these problems with electric mowers

How to store your mower vertically

Noise level — Very quiet

Your neighbors will appreciate the switch from gas to electric. These things are very quiet. You do not need ear muffs. As a matter of fact, you can mow while listening to music.

Design Cons – What I did not like about the design

Weight

I am no bodybuilder and if I had to lift this mower to the garage this would be a huge problem for me. This GreenWorks self-propelled mower weighs 62.4 lbs. This is mainly due to the steel deck but while this is durable, lifting it to the garage might be challenging for people with back problems. Hopefully, if you have back problems your garage is easily accessible for you to just push the mower to the garage for storage when you are through with your mowing session.

Adjusting the handle

We need to unscrew screws to adjust the handlebar. A telescoping handle would have been ideal.

Power and Performance

This Greenworks model does a good job of cutting your lawn whether in high or low grass, thick or thin, with or without shrubs and lasts up to 45 minutes depending on how tall or thick your grass is.

Company Claims

Pros – What I like about power and performance:

Good grass cut quality

No grass clippings left behind while bagging

Mulches well

Revs up in thick grass to get a clean cut

Smart cut feature conserves battery in low grass

Easy to push

Easy to switch from self-propel to push option

Speed adjustment option for you to move at your own pace

Easy to handle over slopes

Cons – Things I do not like about the power and performance

Leaves uncut section while revving up so you need to go over that little initial section of grass where it was revving up

Battery dies faster while mulching

Efficiency and Ease of Use

The GreenWorks Pro 80V MO80L410 21-Inch model is very easy to use.

What I liked – Pros

Comes Pre-assembled. We only need to attach the handle.

Easy to start – Push-button- pull bail switch and it starts in one try.

Easy to stop – stops at the release of the bail switch

Easy to engage in the self-propel feature – Pull self propel lever

Easy to maneuver around lawn

Easy to clean – damp cloth to wipe or soft brush to remove clippings

No gas, oil, spark plug, etc. Simply charge the battery that does it

No winterizing – New to electric mowers? Read our electric mower maintenance and care guide here

What I did not like – Cons

As mentioned above, it is Heavy to lift – 62.4 lbs

Durability, Warranty, and Customer Service

It has a steel deck, metal blades, lithium-ion batteries, and a brushless motor. All of these factors mean that is was built to last and GreenWorks is backing this with a four (4)-year warranty on the mower and two (2)-year warranty on the battery and charger. Reps seem very informed and ready to help.

Ease of Locating Replacement Parts

Always call customer service for help with repairs. They will give you instructions to get the mower to certified GreenWorks repair services. The blades, chargers, and batteries are easy to find on eBay, Amazon, Lowe’s, and other online stores.

Value – should you be buying this mower?

This mower is fairly expensive compared to the other self-propelled mowers on the market but it is worth the purchase. If you buy a GreenWorks Pro 80V MO80L410 21-Inch Self-Propelled Mower, you can commit to other power tools in the 80V line as well then use the batteries interchangeably. Owning the entire line will be a huge benefit. Having an extra battery or 2 will be great for those of you with a large lawn.

Recommended for

I would recommend this GreenWorks self-propelled mower for people with 1/2 acres of lawn and in need of a powerful mower to get the job done with fewer recharges.
