Cordless Electric Lawn Mower Reviews

Ryobi RY14110 48V Self Propelled Mower Review – Ryobi RY14110 lawn mower

After many requests from our readers, we finally decided to review the Ryobi RY14110 48V self-propelled mower. This mower is one of the few self-propelled electric mowers on the market. Others include the Greenworks 80V self-propelled mower and Ego 56V self-propelled mowers. If you are looking at electric mowers, you are probably looking to lose the smelly gas mower at home and buy an environmentally friendly battery-operated mower. The self-propelled function seems awesome to have so why not, right?

…But how well will these electric mowers cut your lawn?

…And what about run time?

…Will they be able to handle your entire lawn in one charge?

…How long does the mower last?

These are some of the questions we will be answering we will be giving you today.

Well Greenworks and Ego did well with their self propelled mowers, how about Ryobi? Let’s find out.

Product: Ryobi RY14110 48V Self Propelled Volt mower

General Market Price: USD 400

Warranty: This product was discontinued

Replacement Batteries Available Online: Home Depot

Update: This product was discontinued

This Ryobi RY14110 lawnmower has lead-acid batteries of 48V and 10Ah which means it is carrying the capacity to use 480Wh of energy to power the mower. This should be more powerful than a 160cc gas mower and perform with nothing short of excellence. The fact that this Ryobi mower has lead batteries means that if you allow them to become completely drained during each mow, you will not have a functional battery for next season. This was one major drawback. Also, you should not leave it charging overnight. Here are the major pros and cons of the Ryobi Self Propelled mower:

The Bad:

My Final Opinion

This mower would work very well on small lawns of 1/6 acres. The batteries die on average 30 minutes which should be enough to mow a small lawn.

The replacement batteries could cost up to $200 and most customers complained that they must be replaced every year so this will be a major problem for you if you are trying to limit your maintenance costs.

Update: Ryobi released a 40V lithium-ion self-propelled mower in 2017. Is it any good? View Ryobi-40v-self-propelled-lawn-mower- review here.

Summary

This is Self propelled 56V EGO lawn mower is such an improvement from the last 56V mower that EGO made. I almost lost all respect for EGO products because of the older model but this mower is redemption at its best. It cuts tall grass well without being bogged down, they fixed the adjusting handle clips so that with this design it actually stays in place and the blades are wider so it does not stall as much in thick grass. This mower is great for older folks or people with back problems who cannot manage to push a heavy mower. C-ELMR highly recommends this mower. Hats off to the EGO team. You can Order your Ego 56V mower online from Amazon for fast and convenient delivery to your doorstep.
